Got 15 minutes for Casa Hogar?

¿Tienes 15 minutes?  That’s the name of a pilot program at the José Dávalos Casa Hogar home for the elderly, which invites the community to visit the home and its residents to meet the “abuelos” and tour the facilities.

The invitation, which has been focused on Saturdays throughout February, is for visitors to come by between 10 am – 12 pm. The program encourages visitors to visit residents’ rooms to chat with the abuelos at the home and see firsthand how the home functions. Plus, this is a great way to find out how you too can help this noble institution.

Santiago Ruiz, Board President of the José Dávalos Casa Hogar, detailed the goal is to bring the community closer to the home’s residents plus see how it doesn’t take a lot of time to spend special moments with them.

He indicated it’s not necessary to take anything special for a visit, however bread, cookies, or something simple to share are always welcome. Children are also welcome, along with folks of all ages ready to share some of their time with the abuelos.

The José Dávalos Casa Hogar is located on Blvd. Josefa Ortiz de Dominguez, with entrance from the back patio on Ave. Miguel Hidalgo.
