The community of Puerto Peñasco has responded well to the 2021 Pañatón (Diaper Thon), donating a total of 1433 diapers so far for low-income individuals that receive care at the city’s General Hospital.
Hospital Director Dr. Pablo Martínez Valeriano detailed the statewide diaper drive, launched on March 16th, remains open as the need for both adult and children’s diapers is ongoing.
In the initial days of the campaign this year, the Diaper Thon brought in 1,059 adult diapers, 339 sanitary pads, and 374 children’s diapers.
The 2020 Diaper Thon was cancelled due to the Covid-19 pandemic, though relaunched this year under due preventive health protocols.
The Diaper Thon drop off spot is the “Centro de Salud”, Ave. Simon Morua intersection with Juan de La Barrera, as the General Hospital itself is a Covid area.
