Puerto Peñasco’s own Gallito Estrada bests Filipino Raymond Tabugon in super-flyweight bout!
Following ten rounds and a win by unanimous decision, Juan Francisco “El Gallo” Estrada shone during his return to boxing before thousands of Puerto Peñasco residents and visitors at the Francisco León García stadium on Saturday night, Oct. 8th.
Results from the bout came in 100-90 in favor of Gallito Estrada, in his debut fight as a super flyweight after renouncing his world champion flyweight titles.
Gallito, who is originally from Puerto Peñasco, was met with cheers and applause from the moment he stepped into the ring and particularly during the heaviest exchange of blows with the Filipino boxer Tabugon who “put up a good fight.”
“¡Arriba Peñasco!” “¡Puro barrio del Sabaco!” and “¡Saca la cresta!” were just some of the cheers from the crowd, pushing el Gallito on, who in turn seemed to turn to his public at times as a sign of gratitude.
Following this win, Juan Francisco “Gallito” Estrada will continue training as he works toward his next fight in December and get ready, “and why not?” as he said, for a second encounter with the Nicaraguan boxer “Cholatito” González.
