First Sea of Cortez cruise sets reservation goal at 60%

By José Antonio Pérez

Puerto Peñasco Convention and Visitors Bureau (OCV) president, Héctor Vázquez del Mercado, details Cruise & Maritime Voyages, the first cruise line to sail the Sea of Cortez with Puerto Peñasco as the departure and return point, currently reports an average of 30% in reservations for the six scheduled trips from December 2019 to February 2020.

The OCV president explained intense promotional work over the next three months aims to bring this number up to 60%, or rather 800 tickets, to guarantee the cruise’s continuity for next year.

He further affirmed the upcoming cruise places Puerto Peñasco on the international map, by taking the Sea of Cortez into consideration for the first time ever. The 11-day cruise, first of which is scheduled for Dec. 7th, will depart from Puerto Peñasco and then visit Topolobampo, Mazatlán, Los Cabos, La Paz, Loreto, Santa Rosalía, and Guaymas, before returning to Puerto Peñasco.

Vázquez del Mercado expressed confidence that Puerto Peñasco’s connectivity with other cities will continue to grow, which speaks well of Sonora Governor Claudia Pavlovich’s support to strengthen tourist destinations throughout Sonora.
