This Saturday, May 24th, Expo Bacanora will take place for the first time here in Puerto Peñasco. As an exclusive for Rocky Point 360, last night I interviewed three of the organizers of the event: Martín Martínez, Eddie Wharez, and Carmen Martens, who kindly provided information not yet shared with any other press outlet.
It’s important to stress that representatives from the Sonoran Secretary of the Economy will be there to formally inaugurate Bacanora Grill, which has actually been open to the public for a number of weeks. As it will serve as the host site of Expo Bacanora 2014, organizers are also taking advantage of this opportunity for the restaurant.
The fiesta celebrating this spirit of Sonora will take place from 5 p.m. – 9 p.m. in the dock area (Calle 3) and entry is free. Over the four hours, you will be able to take part in the family friendly environment where there will be an ample exhibition of Bacanora products, typical dishes made with the starring spirit, various exhibitions including the art of Ricardo Monjaraz, Wendy Fregozo, and Alma Yanes (of Artesanos en Movimiento) along with Susan Navarrete showcasing clothes made with manta alongside jewelry made from seashells.
There will also be a display of Mexican folkloric dances, voices of local singers, and then the “main dish”, winner of TV Azteca’s La Academia 10 (similar to American Idol), Alexis Montoya. Alexis will surely delight all those present with his regional music, signing of autographs, and of course pictures with the singer. How grand!
This first Expo Bacanora Puerto Peñasco 2014 is organized by Bacanora Travel, S.A. de C.V., Bacanora Grill (offering typical Sonoran dishes), with the support of Bacanora Tacupete, Siete Coronados, Diseños Casa y Jardín, Sushi Sun Restaurant, the Sonoran Bacanora Regulating Councill (CSRB), as well as the State Government through the Secretary of the Economy.
