On the evening of September 15th, the area around City Hall in Puerto Peñasco made way for a community fiesta, marking the 203rd anniversary of the eve of when Mexico’s struggle for Independence first began. Local dance groups, banda, and mariachi took the stage early in the evening while a “torch lit” procession of Independence Heroes rode toward City Hall just before the official grito was pronounced by Mayor Gerardo Figueroa Zazueta. VIVA MEXICO! VIVA SONORA! VIVA PUERTO PEÑASCO!
