El Golfo Run! May 4 – 6

EL GOLFO RUN! THE DATE IS SET for the Cinco de Mayo weekend, May 4-5-6, with a ‘Survivor’s Party’ at La Casa del Capitan around 5PM on Sunday the 6th. You DO need to make a reservation  at rockypointtimes@yahoo.com  They DO NOT accept $$, you pay for your room upon arrival, but the organizers assign the rooms. Everyone is welcome to join if you have a 4×4 and know how to drive it!  If you plan to go, or had a change in plans and can’t make it…let Sandy know at rockypointtimes@yahoo.com

For past tales and adventures of the El Golf Run, check out this excerpt from Tom O’Hare of the Rocky Point Times “…El Golfo or Bust… Last month we had our 31st semi- annual El Golfo Run. Besides our regulars who always participate, we had 14 new people that went for their first time. This trip we had the usual buggies, rails and jeeps, the unusual vehicles were two four wheelers, a golf cart, Razr and Polaris. Everyone said had a good time and will join us again. As has been the tradition, our trip was finished off with a ‘Survivors Party’ which was held at La Casa del Capitan, with a good margarita conversation and dinner. For those of you who are not familiar with our “El Golfo Run”, we do it twice a year – May and October. It is about an 85 mile trip to a small fishing town named “El Golfo de Santa Clara”. We try to stay off road as much as possible, driving thru the desert and along the seashore…” (December 20 11)

Sandra O’Hare from the Rocky Point Times shares with us that the Fall El Golfo Run will be Oct. 26-27-28.

  1. We are planning to go on the El Golfo trip and we know when everyone will leave but there is no info as to where the group will gather and take off from. Please advise.

    Thanks,
    Burl

  2. Hi Burl
Please be sure to contact Tom O’Hare and folks at Rocky Point Times with your name, tel. and number of people going. The departure is from Tom’s ranchito in the Lomas Campestre area, which is on the road to Laguna Del Mar that also meets up with the coastal highway (just north of town) Look for the arches on the right-hand side of the road and an orange casa. Mexico number 638 383 6325 or from the US 480 463 6255 to confirm with them

    Have fun!

  3. Hi Tom or Sami (who responded to my inquire) We have made reservations and we have another pair of guys going which will need a room, Bill and Dan Swier. I called and left a message to that effect at the RP Times office phone but I will attempt to contact to confirm later this morning.
