“Dry law” (Ley Seca) in effect June 30th & July 1st during Mexican elections

According to the news agency El Imparcial from Hermosillo, the state of Sonora will have a “dry law” (ley seca) in effect on both Saturday, June 30th, and Sunday, July 1st, in light of the local, state, and national elections.

The decision to have both days fall under the “Dry Law” period was confirmed recently by the Sonoran State Electoral Commission.  It is worth noting each state electoral commission determines whether or not to institute the “Dry Law” during election time, and its implementation may vary from state to state. Election Day in Mexico is Sunday, July 1st, and in Puerto Peñasco will include elections for Mayor, State level representatives, Senators, and President.
