Dirty Beach Mud Run for Fun

mudrun-march2014 Dirty Beach Mud Run for FunPeople come to Rocky Point for the beach, plus the sea and sand. This weekend, you can get up close and personal with both at the Dirty Beach Mud Run.
“The people who have done it say it’s as good as the big events in Arizona,” Darren Dodd says with a gleam in his eye. Darren runs Rocky Point Speedway where, along with the Mud Run, you can churn up the track in one of his race cars, or catch sand drags and short course race events.
If you are not familiar, the Dirty Beach Mud Run is part of a trend towards outdoor events with a little less athleticism, and a lot more fun. You don’t have to train to slog through the mud pits, climb the rope ladders, balance on the beams (though wearing running shoes you don’t mind getting dirty will definitely help). The obstacles will only make it more enjoyable. Then again, so will the refreshment stations along the course!
Now for the 4th time (after its first muddiness in Oct. 2012), the Dirty Beach Mud Run happens Saturday, March 29th, with the first wave starting at 11 am. Rocky Point Speedway is by the reef on Sandy Beach, on the road to Cholla Bay.
You can still register for Saturday’s Dirty Beach Mud Run! Registration continues Friday evening (3/28) from 6 p.m. – 8 p.m., on the Cantina side of Playa Bonita Hotel (Puesta del Sol Restaurant) where Darren will be signing folks up, and again on Saturday at the course any time between 10 a.m. and right before the last wave goes out at 1 p.m.  $50 US per person – though Darren says there are also group rates (2 might be a group, ¿qué no?) Ask for Darren when signing up.
