May! May 1st is Labor Day across Mexico, which leads us into basically a three day weekend here at the beach. May includes numerous celebrations, including that of May 3rd – Día de la Santa Cruz (honoring builders), 5 de Mayo – Celebration of the Battle of Puebla, 10 de mayo – Mother’s Day (Mexico) and 11th (US), as well as US Memorial Day Weekend. There are also special days in May to celebrate teachers and students! With so much on our plate, let’s rundown the weekend!

May 2 – 5 6th Biker Fiesta by Rocky Point Riders with events held at Concha del Mar RV Park (RV park right on the beach just before turning off to Playa Bonita Hotel)
May 3 Hombres Valientes – Book presentation and signing with author Guillermo Munro Palacio El Tapeo 7 p.m.
May 3 – 4 Hobie cat Cinco de Mayo Regatta – Fleets 66 and 514 sail their colors across the sea with their biannual trek to our shores. Launching spot from Playa Bonita RV Park.
May 3 Mermaid’s Arts Market at Plaza del Camarón – “The mermaids”, as the artists have come to be known, are starting to wind down their arts season in the plaza (1st and 3rd Saturdays, October through May), so be sure to stop by for local art, chocolate, photography, jewelry, “re-creation” wear, candles, ironwork, or a hanging planter made with recycled tires.
