dia-de-los-muertos-012-401x620 Day of the Dead Weekend Rundown 11/2 - 11/5This weekend we celebrate Life and Death in Puerto Peñasco! Nov. 1st and 2nd mark traditional Day of the Dead events throughout Mexico, and in spots across town (and individual homes) you may come across elaborate altars celebrating the life of a loved one who has passed on. In further celebrating life, or preserving the life around us, the Pinacate Biosphere Reserve and the Schuk Toak Visitors Center are wrapping up their annual National Conservation Week with photo tours and film.

Here is our Day of the Dead weekend rundown:

Nov. 2nd is a Bank Holiday!    If you have the opportunity to go by any of the city’s three cemeteries on Fri., Nov. 2nd, this is certainly a moving experience as families flock to visit the departed while cleaning up graves, decorating them with flowers, often times accompanied with music, balloons, and food.

Nov. 2nd  5 p.m. Continuing with the celebration of Day of the Dead at Casa Juarez (Casa de la Cultura – across from City Hall) the City office of Cultural and Civic Affairs is sponsoring an evening of events, with music, a processional, films, and contests for altars and literary Calaveras. Look for Catrinas, calacas, and Calaveras!
