We are just three weeks from Circus Mexicus 2014 which, in addition to the Southwest Americana sounds of Roger Clyne & the Peacemakers drifting over the sea, this year promises to be a full weekend “rock show” featuring world renowned guitarists. In looking specifically at the main events scheduled for Friday and Saturday nights, “For guitar lovers, that’s two days of bada** players if I don’t say so myself,” explains promoter Greg Ross.
The four day Circus (June 5 – 8) will embrace the guitar talents of Johnny Hickman (Cracker / Hickman-Dalton Gang), Rich Hopkins (Sand Rubies), Harley Husbands (Shurman), Josh Kennedy (The Black Moods), and of course Jim Dalton (RCPM / Hickman-Dalton Gang) to name a few, with concerts spread from Cholla Bay to Sandy Beach…plus, you never know who may pick up a guitar and rock along. In addition, RCPM will be bringing tunes from their new album The Independent!
Groups coming to Circus Mexicus this year include the Tucson based Sand Rubies (yes, the once upon a time flirting with fame group known as Sidewinders), The Black Moods straight out of Tempe, alt-rock icons Cracker, plus frequent Rocky Point visitors and Circus artists – our rocking amigos from Austin, TX – Shurman, AZ based Random Karma for another chill Circus performance, Ghetto Cowgirl with Marc Norman’s full do (thanks, humidity) and all, the incredibly suave Elvis Before Noon, and AZ musician Shawn Johnson. Enough rock for you?
Now in its XXIII edition, Roger Clyne & the Peacemakers’ Circus Mexicus is so much more than a concert…or series of concerts. It continues to strengthen music offerings across the city, attracting fans from across the country and the globe to Puerto Peñasco’s beaches. Here’s a tip for this year’s main concerts on Friday and Saturday nights, beach chairs and blankets will be ok on the sloped hill inside the venue.
