Charity Database Project ~ Just in time for the holidays

ribbon-620x465 Charity Database Project ~ Just in time for the holidaysRocky Point is blessed with many charitable groups and organizations who work tirelessly on behalf of various sectors of the community, from the less fortunate to sports, music, and health needs, among many others. Despite the best efforts of these organizations, more can be done to inform the broader public about the different groups and what they do.  With the Holiday season around the corner, we are once again reminded of numerous altruistic organizations in Puerto Peñasco whose efforts actually run year-round, some of them culminating with holiday distributions around this time of year.

In an effort to “help people help others,” Puerto Peñasco resident Dona Hurley, Shandra “Sami” Keesecker-Rivero of RockyPoint360, and Rosie Glover of Tourism and Visitors Assistance are gathering information for the development of a Charity Database Project. The goal of the project is to provide pertinent information on all local charities and organizations in order to make the database available to all through a variety of media outlets. Some of the projects and groups listed below operate out of the U.S., yet continue to be valuable parts of the Rocky Point community!

In September, Dona began the database project by first scouring through information in local media including The Rocky Point Times and JoinUs newspapers. An initial list of these groups is developing here below.  Help us out by contributing updated information, contact details, photos, and recommendations for additional entries.  We believe there are many more unpublished community groups serving our community in a variety of ways and invite everyone to participate with this project. Send your suggestions for inclusion in the database to Dona Hurley at dmhurley@usa.net or to info@rockypoint360.com
