Casa de la Cultura to offer 23 new workshops

Puerto Peñasco, Sonora. April 6, 2017.  The Puerto Peñasco Casa de la Cultura announced its educational offerings for the upcoming cycle, which include 23 workshops and two clubs so that children, youth, and adults can take part in artistic-cultural activities.

Nina Mier, Art & Culture Director, together with Beatriz Salido, Director of the Casa de la Cultura, detailed the courses being offered are part of festivities to honor Puerto Peñasco’s 90th Anniversary.

Among the courses to be offered:  Japanese and Korean Pop Dance, Chess, Decorative Art, Modern Dance, Film Characterization, Children’s Film, Folkloric dance for children, Writing, Philosophy, Basic Photography, French I, Guitar, English I, Youth Jazz, new strategies to encourage reading, painting, recycling and the environment, theater, creating a character, customs of the Tohono O’odham, children’s environmental club, and the “Las Voces Vienen del Mar” reading club.

These courses complement the existing Municipal Marching Band, Classical Ballet, Artistic Initiation, Folkloric Dance, Polynesian Dance, and the Municipal Music School.  Courses will last 10 weeks, or rather 50 hours, and will run from April 24 – June 30 at a cost of 400 pesos per course, plus a 50 peso registration fee.  For more information, visit the Casa de Cultura next to the Public Library (across from City Hall), Monday – Friday, 8 a.m. – 7 p.m.
