Busy Beach Clean Up Sept. 30th!

More than 500 people, among these students of all ages, teachers, parents, and others took part in last Saturday’s morning beach clean-up effort along several spots of Puerto Peñasco’s coastline this past weekend. Clean up squads from schools and local organizations took to the task of cleaning up areas including La Cholla, Playa Hermosa, El Mirador, Mi Playa, and Las Conchas, as well as a stretch along Sandy Beach.

Marcia Ortega of the Clean Beach Committee indicated coordinated work of the Committee, along with the Municipal Office on Ecology, ZOFEMAT, and Grupo Modelo (Corona) were all key in the recent clean-up effort. She also highlighted the participation of the Morua Estuary Women’s Cooperative, the local Rotary Club, Public Services, and a number of schools such as CETMAR, COBACH, CEUNO, CRECE, Elvira Ceseña, and Montessori secondary, among others.  Data on the September 30th beach clean-up is still being tabulated with help from CEDO, though it is worth highlighting the abundance of cigarette butts, pieces of glass, soda tabs, and plastic bottles.

Please remember, Pack it in – Pack it out!  Upcoming Clean Beach dates are scheduled for later this October.
