Utah District 5420 Fiesta and Service in Rocky Point!Armed with paintbrushes, tools, playground equipment, computers, construction skills, artistic talent, and a true desire to put service above self, the Rotary Clubs of Utah District 5420 have made their way to Puerto Peñasco for their 2015 District Fiesta! ¡BIENVENIDOS!

The week’s worth of activities, filled with service projects across the community, will culminate in the 5420 District Conference with an anticipated attendance of nearly 700 people in all!  The local Puerto Peñasco Mar de Cortés Rotary Club, which is just nearing its first year anniversary, over the past year has been actively working with the various UT District Rotary clubs, headed by current District Governor Mike Wells, to pull everything together for this week of service, celebration and camaraderie along our coast.

Among the numerous projects the clubs will be taking on this week are: construction of three homes by Interactors (through collaboration with “Families helping Families”), renovation and construction work at the local elementary school aptly named “Escuela Rotario”, dental visits, an awareness campaign concerning the use of sunglasses for protecting the eyes of fishermen, construction workers, and many others who spend days under the blazing sun, ongoing work on the grounds of the Dialysis Center, fulfilling provision needs at Esperanza Children’s Home north of town, donation of numerous computers and tablets to various local junior high schools, and decorating over 200 piñatas made by individuals of the community group “Comunidad de Valores y Actitudes Productivas A.C.” who are graduates of La Montaña school for children with special needs.

This week of service and fellowship by the sea comes after a busy year of visits and assistance provided by numerous Rotary clubs in Utah, ranging in projects from the donation of ambulances and equipment to the Dialysis Center to acquiring school buses that will soon assist with transportation needs for a number of local students.  It’s going to be a busy week!  More information:  www.utahrotary.org
