Bids on improvements to beach access points

Jose Luis Montijo Torres, Director of Public Works, reported a bidding process is underway for projects to improve different beach access points across Puerto Peñasco. He added the overall project entails an investment of 20 million pesos (about 1 million dollars) , from resources of the Federal Maritime Land Zone (ZOFEMAT).

Projects under consideration for beach access improvements include:  the entry known as “Los Guardado” on the north side of Playa Hermosa, the southern access to the same beach located next to Peñasco del Sol Hotel,  entrance to the Mirador area, the recently Blue Flag certified Manny’s Beach, and an area of the Malecón Fundadores.

Montijo Torres highlighted these projects are made possible through the valuable contributions of business owners and fees of occupants in the Federal Zones, as well as via coordinated efforts between federal and state agencies.

ZOFEMAT funds from 2019 led to the purchase of much needed beach and safety equipment, including 3 all-terrain RZRs, radios, 4 ATVs, three 4×4 pick-ups, a backhoe, trailer with hydraulic lift, a hydraulic lifeguard tower, and two jetskis.
