March. Goodness, where did it go? We made it through Spring Break, followed right on the heels by Semana Santa crowds and plenty of sunshine, still with cool nights and even cooler mornings. While the mega-crowds and plethora of bandas from Semana Santa have come and gone, activities around town don’t seem to be letting up any time soon. So let’s run down the weekend and head right into the pirates, mermaids, street art, horseshoes, jazz, triathlons, and regattas of April.
April
2nd – Mermaid & Pirate Extravaganza at the Mermaids Arts Market! For a 3rd year the folks from Peñasco Recreation Co., together with artists from the Fall through Spring Mermaids Arts Market, will be decorating Shrimp Plaza with dance, music, and costume contests. “Doors” open at 10 a.m. – first performances go on around 11:30 – and then DON’T MISS the Bayou Brothers out of San Diego for what will surely be a boot-stomping, washboard playing good time. Yes, I said washboard. Plus, the Bayou Brothers will be taking their Zydeco over to Banditos at 6 p.m. Tickets for Saturday night available at the Pirate/Mermaid Extravaganza! Plus, RockyPoint360 is sponsoring the Kids Pirate Costume contest! Arrrr you ready?
