2019 Viva Peñasco Carnaval set for March

By José Antonio Pérez

The Mirador area in Puerto Peñasco will once more serve as site for Carnaval activities, with the return of Viva Peñasco 2019 to be held March 1st – 3rd.  Organizers hope to surpass positive results from recent years.

Nina Mier Nogales, Municipal Director of Art & Culture, detailed by early February some dance/performance groups had already signed up to participate, including a troupe from Guaymas, while three floats had also added their names to the Carnaval parade list.  Noting sign ups remain open, she anticipates the participation of many more groups and floats.

While the 2019 Viva Peñasco Carnaval does not have a specific theme, the overall spirit of the event is Carnaval itself.

The three-day event, which will include daily parades along Blvd. Juarez, will further enliven the Mirador area with live music, carnival rides, theater, and more.  Municipal Tourism Director Rafael Mendívil Millán detailed promotional campaigns hope to draw additional tourism to the Carnaval activities, and anticipates over 35% hotel occupancy throughout the event.
