Zacarías Páez (Nogales, Sonora 1948) absolute artist. The wonder of creating, the tenacity for discovery, the need to tell stories; these are all qualities that may be applied to the work of Zacarías Páez, one of the principal artists in Northwestern Mexico. Zacarías Páez is dedicated to creating. To do art. To be an artist in all sense of the word.
His day is surrounded with color, textures, and materials that attentively await their turn to be transformed into one of this artist’s pieces, through a grand variety of options he uses to create. Canvas, paper, bronze, wood, fiberglass, paint, ink, it would appear there is no material that escapes the imagination of this artist, architect by profession. His work has taken him to Europe, the United States, and South America and visits Mexican museums as part of distinct collections.
His technique is impeccable; his ideas clear. It doesn’t matter if the subject matter is heroes of the revolution or a personal reflection, the clarity of his ideas are not only transmitted, they settle in one’s mind and in the heart of everyone who comes into contact with his work. The only recourse is to lose oneself in the canyons created between the outlines and colors. The effect is brilliant. The vision and mind are trapped in broad fields of color and forms, until the spectator gives in to the Páez universe. His art is modern, contemporary. Each piece created is charged with a tremendous level of audacity that challenges temporality, which sometimes tests other artists. Each one of his pieces impacts the visitor – because the works of Páez are not seen, they are visited – to travel through a marvelous world only with the conviction of arriving to another space of our humanity at some point.
**Calle 15 Galería de Arte and the First Take Film Club (Cine Club Primera Toma, A.C.) are organizing their first summer raffle, with the raffling off of the painting “Barreras entre nosotros I” (Borders between us I) by Sonoran painter Zacarías Páez. The painting is valued at $4,000 USD (approximately $45,500 pesos) and is a mixed technique on cloth measuring 210 x 190 cm; it is part of the series “Barreras entre humanos” (Borders between humans).
Páez, the artist behind the painting, has provided a percentage of the work’s value to the goal of creating an Audivisual Hall in Puerto Penasco for the Cine Club. Only 100 tickets are available for the raffle, at a cost of $500 pesos each (about $35 US); the raffle will be held on Tuesday, September 25, 2012 with the last two digits on the winning ticket that coincide with Mexico’s National Lottery.

La maravilla de crear, la tenacidad del descubrimiento, la necesidad de contar historias; son particularidades que pueden aplicarse a la obra de Zacarías Páez, uno de los principales artistas plásticos del Noroeste de México. Zacarías Páez se dedica a crear. A hacer arte. A ser artista con toda la intención de la palabra. Su día se rodea de color, de texturas y materiales que atentos esperan su momento de ser plasmados en alguna de las obras de este artista plástico, por la gran variedad de opciones que utiliza para crear. Lienzo, papel, bronce, madera, fibra de vidrio, pintura, tinta, pareciera que no hay material que se resista a la imaginación del arquitecto de profesión. Su trabajo lo ha llevado a Europa, Estados Unidos y Sudamérica, recorre los museos mexicanos en distintas colecciones.
Su técnica es impecable. Sus ideas son claras. No importa si se trata de los héroes de la revolución, o una reflexión personal; la claridad de sus ideas no sólo se transmite, se alberga en la mente y el corazón de todo aquel que entra en contacto con su obra. El único recurso es perderse en los cañones que se crean entre trazos y pinceladas. El efecto es maravilloso. La visión y la mente son atrapadas por los amplios campos de color y formas, hasta que el espectador cede ante el universo Páez. Su arte es moderno, contemporáneo. Cada pieza creada va cargada de un alto grado de audacia que desafía la temporalidad que muchas veces castiga a otros artistas. Cada una de sus obras remite al visitante -porque las obras de Páez no se ven, se visitan- a recorrer un maravilloso mundo sólo con la convicción de llegar a otro lugar de nuestra humanidad en algún momento.
**Calle 15. Galería de Arte. y el Cine Club Primera Toma, A.C. organizan este primer sorteo de verano de la pintura “Barreras entre nosotros I” del autor Zacarías Páez*. Esta obra tiene un valor de $4,000 (cuatro mil dólares U.S.D.) – $45, 500 (cuarenta y cinco mil pesos m/n); es una técnica mixta sobre tela, con las dimensiones de 210 x 190 centímetros, de la serie “Barreras entre humanos”. Este sorteo se realiza para reunir fondos para la Sala Audiovisual del Cine Club Primera Toma, A.C. en Puerto Peñasco
El autor de la obra brinda un porcentaje del valor para la causa. La aportación por cada número (únicamente son cien boletos) es de $500 pesos; el sorteo se llevará a cabo el martes, 25 de septiembre de 2012 con las dos últimas cifras que coincidan con la Lotería Nacional de México.
