Work progresses on Peñasco-Sonoyta Overpass

The overpass project being built along Federal Highway No. 8 between Puerto Peñasco – Sonoyta is advancing steadily and should be wrapped up prior to the end of the current municipal administration.

Puerto Peñasco Mayor Gerardo Figueroa Zazueta indicated the project, which involves federal funds totaling 65 million pesos, came as a result of measures pursued with the Secretary of Communications and Transport (SCT).

The Mayor emphasized once concluded the overpass will resolve a serious traffic problem along this stretch of the highway, which in the past has led to fatal traffic accidents.

The Mayor expressed the company currently in charge of the project is working to install concrete beams that will link the two parts of the overpass.

This project, Mayor Figueroa concluded, is part of the transformational process to the urban image of Puerto Peñasco. Additional work has addressed a number of roads and use of hydraulic concrete along Blvd. Benito Juárez and Blvd. Samuel Ocaña, in addition to part of Blvd. Josefa Ortiez de Domínguez among other efforts.
