For the second year in a row, the Uniting Nations Cup will be held at the Peninsula de Cortés golf course at Mayan Palace. Last year, the Cup stirred up tremendous passion and kindled spirits for grand duels between teams from the US and Mexico. This year, 40 amateur golfers from each country will defend their flags over the span of three days of competition, beginning on Friday, May 18th.
In the words of Vitto Berlingeri, Tournament Director, “The concept of the Uniting Nations Cup (Copa Uniendo Naciones) is to highlight the alliance between the United States and Mexico beyond their commercial and cultural ties, while attempting to one day achieve the international reputation of a tournament similar to the legendary Ryder Cup. Another objective the Uniting Nations Cup sets out to accomplish is the expansion and promotion of the little-known Mexican port destination of Puerto Peñasco.”
It is important to note the event is open to the general public to attend as spectators. RockyPoint360 photographers will be providing full coverage of the event, and we recommend spectators find comfortable spot near the 18th hole where all the matches will wrap-up. There you can enjoy drinks and snacks as neither back-packs nor ice chests are allowed onto the golf course. We also encourage onlookers to ask course staff for assistance as they will be able to recommend the best way to get to spectator areas.

Copa Uniendo Naciones
Por segunda ocasión, la Copa Uniendo Naciones se lleva a cabo en el campo de Península de Cortés, del 17 al 20 de mayo. El año pasado, dejo grandes emociones así como los ánimos encendidos para grandes duelos entre los equipos de Mexico y USA. Este año 40 golfistas amateurs de cada país defenderán sus colores en tres días de competencia, iniciando el viernes 18 de mayo (dado que el primer día es solamente de práctica).
En palabras de Vitto Berlingeri Tournament Director, “El concepto de la Copa Uniendo Naciones es para enfatizar las alianzas entre los Estados Unidos y México más allá de sus vínculos comerciales y culturales, con el objetivo de logar algún día la reputación internacional de un torneo parecido a la legendaria Copa Ryder. Otro objetivo de la Copa Uniendo Naciones es lograr difundir y promover este destino Mexicano de puerto poco conocido, que es Puerto Peñasco.”
Es importante mencionar que el evento esta abierto al publico en general como espectadores. No se permite la entrada al Campo de golf con hieleras o mochilas, así también recomendamos pedir orientación con el personal del campo, quienes les recomendaran la mejor manera de llegar a las áreas de espectadores.
