Traffic opened on Boulevards Juarez and Ocaña!

As part of the transformative process currently taking place across the city, on July 2nd Puerto Peñasco Mayor Gerardo Figueroa Zazueta opened up Boulevards Benito Juárez and Samuel Ocaña to traffic, which will help relieve traffic flow with this weekend’s arrival of thousands of visitors.

Accompanied by his wife, Mrs. Rafaela Félix de Figueroa and his daughter, María Fernanda, as well as City Secretary Oscar Villavicencio Lübbert, the Mayor officially reopened traffic by welcoming the first cars to transit along these roads.

The projects to repave and modernize these two boulevards required an investment of just over 100 million pesos. Nevertheless, some work will continue over the coming weeks and expectations are to have these roads fully completed and equipped by the 2nd State of the City address in early September.

“We decided to open up traffic along these two routes because we want to prevent accidents with the arrival of tourists for the U.S. 4th of July holiday weekend,” added Figueroa.

The Mayor asked for the community to continue to be patient for work that still needs to be done, encouraging drivers to slow down around construction crews that continue to work on sidewalks and curbs.

“There are still some details to finish up for these projects, but I want to tell business owners the large sidewalks are for people to enjoy, they are not for parking. This is a point that should be made very clear so the boulevards can look as they were designed to,” he indicated.

Finally, the Mayor reported in coming days the bidding process would be launched for the 2nd paving stage of Blvd. Benito Juárez.
