A race bursting with color and replete with fun is being promoted by a group of young business people, proceeds from which will go to the dialysis project of the local social services office on Integral Family Development (DIF).
Dubbed “Toma Color” (similar to Color Run), the 5K race is to take place on March 30th and is open to all ages. The goal of the colorful event is for this to be a fun family day, while also helping to raise funds for the Dialysis Center.
Albita Portugal, one of the young business folk leading the way on the Run, stated in a recent press conference the main goal of this race is for it to be a fun and healthy event in which people will want to participate, while raising funds for DIF.
“The goal is to raise awareness about health while providing our own grain of sand toward the ongoing construction [equipping] of the Dialysis Center, which has been so rightly coordinated by DIF President Rafaela Félix de Figueroa,” indicated Portugal.
Others of the Toma Color organizing team include nutritionist Erika Mota and Mariela Contreras, as well as Emanuel Castro and Luis Altamirano. The 5K race on March 30th will start at 8:30 a.m. from the parking lot of Sam’s and end in the Old Port on the Malecón where prizes will be awarded in various categories.
Registration for the race is 200 pesos per person, with possible discount rates for teams (info pending). Registration includes a t-shirt and glasses, with registration dates from Feb. 15 – March 15 in order to ensure t-shirt sizes. Register at Puerto Viejo Café located in the Old Port (across from Thrifty and cati-corner to the church). [Organizers indicated they are looking at possibilities for late registrants if after March 15, though official t-shirts may not be available.]
This type of fun run consists of stops at each kilometer, where participants are doused in varying colored powders so everyone is colorful when reaching the finish line.
DIF President Rafaela Félix expressed her gratitude for the enthusiasm of the young business leaders in working to organize this race with funds going to the noble cause of the Dialysis Center.
Organizers expressed they will be seeking additional sponsors for logistics of the run as the goal is for all registration fees to go to the Dialysis Center.
La carrera Toma Color pintará un día de diversión

Una carrera llena de color y diversión es la que promueven un grupo de jóvenes empresarios para apoyar al proyecto de hemodiálisis que impulsa DIF Puerto Peñasco.
Denominada “Toma Color” esta carrera se llevará a cabo el 30 de marzo para la cual se invita a participar desde niños pequeños hasta adultos de la tercera edad con el fin de que sea una actividad familiar y divertida además de promover la aportación de recursos para la Unidad de Hemodiálisis.
Albita Portugal integrante del grupo de emprendedores dio a conocer en rueda de prensa que el propósito principal de esta carrera es hacer una actividad divertiday saludable en el que la gente quiera participar para llevar recursos a DIF.
“El propósito es hacer conciencia sobre el cuidado de la salud, aportar un granito de arena a la importante construcción de la Unidad de Hemodiálisis que tan atinadamente coordina la maestra Rafaela Félix de Figueroa”, indicó Albita Portugal Celaya.
Como parte del equipo fueron presentados también la nutrióloga Erika Mota y Mariela Contreras, así como de Emanuel Castro y Luis Altamirano, quienes informaron que la ruta de 5 kilómetros arrancará a las 8:30 de la mañana del 30 de marzo desde el estacionamiento de la cadena comercial SAM’s y concluirá en el área de El Malecón Fundadores en donde se hará la premiación a los ganadores.
La inscripción a la carrera que tendrá un costo de 200 pesos y que incluye camiseta y lentes podrá hacerse en Puerto Viejo Café situado en contra esquina de la iglesia del puerto a partir del 15 de Febrero hasta el 15 de marzo.
La dinámica de estas carreras consiste en que cada kilómetro recorrido los participantes serán bañados con polvos de un color distinto hasta llegar cubiertos con varios colores a la meta.
Por su parte Rafaela Félix presidenta del sistema DIF, agradeció a este entusiasta grupo de jóvenes por organizar esta carrera y asi contribuir a una noble causa como lo representa el proyecto de la Unidad de Hemodiálisis.
