The Liga Norte de México’s much-awaited baseball season bringing together thousands of fans is about to begin, and what better way than in the newly remodeled stadium of the kick-off host in Puerto Peñasco?
This year, teams in the strengthened Liga Norte de México come from both Sonora and Baja California and include: Tiburones of Puerto Peñasco, Rojos of Caborca, Algodoneros of San Luis, Marineros of Enseanda, Centinelas of Mexicali, and the Fresoros from San Quintin.
Terencio Gutiérrez, Tiburones de Puerto Peñasco Board President, indicated there has been 70% on the stadium to date. This includes construction of new bleachers, a completed remodeled façade, new bathrooms along rehabilitating existing ones, plus renovations to the dug-outs and locker rooms both for the home and visiting teams.
Further specs of the renovation include a terrace, bar, press transmission area, and three spaces for shops. Changes on the field include synthetic grass, maintenance service to lights, and an electronic scoreboard. Outside the stadium, new sidewalks are being built to provide better access.
Stay tuned for info on upcoming games as the season plans to throw out the first pitch April 11th.
