This year’s events will kick off on Thursday, Nov. 10 with the International Poker Run from the US to Rocky Point. The first stop is at the Flores Gas Station in Why, AZ, with the second at Vazquez Liquors and Curios in Sonoyta, Mexico (in town on the way to Rocky Point). The third stop is at the Barclin-Circle K gas station as you near Rocky Point itself,  where there will also be a booth set up with volunteers registering rally participants. The fourth stop is at local area hotels (as indicated on card) .   On Thursday, the fifth stop is at the SeaSide Reservations office just off Calle 13, located across from the Hideaway Cantina where the kick-off party will be held.  On Friday, the fifth stop will be at the Playa Bonita Resort.  Cards are $10 US per person and need to be paid for, marked, and stamped at Playa Bonita by Friday @ 6 p.m. We hear there are great prizes!

In addition to the Poker Run on the ride down, once in town there will be a Walking Poker Run along Calle 13: 1st card @ Guau Guau’s, 2nd @ Revolución Bar by the Señorial Motel, 3rd @ Chulass, 4th @ El Sombrero Restaurant & Bar, and the 5th @ the Peñasco del Sol Hotel Pool area…just in time for the pool party.

061-620x413 Thunder soon to roar over Sea of Cortez ~ Here comes the Rally!Don’t forget to pick up a Registration packet!

Why is registration important for the Rocky Point Rally?  Ever since it began, one of the goals of the Rally has been to help raise funds for local charities, with registration fees representing a substantial part of this. The donation for registration is $10 US/person and with it you will receive a packet including the official 11th Rocky Point Rally pin, a detailed city map, and a wristband for the Saturday night fiesta & beach party @ Playa Bonita.  Volunteers from the selected charity organizations, as well as some local US folk thrown into the mix, will be registering people Thurs. & Fri. at the Barclin-Circle K, for a few hours at Thursday’s kick-off party, at Playa Bonita, and on Saturday at the Malecon in the Old Port.   The seven charities that receive funds from the Rally include:  Office of Integral Family Development (DIF) of Sonoyta, DIF of Puerto Peñasco, the Puerto Peñasco Fire Department, Puerto Peñasco Red Cross, La Montaña school for children with special needs, the José Davalos Home for the Elderly in Puerto Peñasco, and the local chapter of the George Papanicolau cancer prevention group.  Look for these charities as well on Saturday at the malecon as they’ll be selling food and drinks.

Keep checking back this week for additional info & tips, plus don’t miss the pics from previous rallies in our Photo Gallery!
