Tasty! UTPP Gastronomic Event: Creating Concepts

With parents, friends, school directors, and press representatives on hand, students from the 2nd quarter of the Culinary Arts department at the Technological University of Puerto Peñasco (UTPP) showed off their skill and knowledge during the grand Gastronomic Event “Creating Concepts” on Friday, Jan. 25th.  Attendees were able to enjoy a buffet serving three courses:  salads and chilled dishes, main course, and dessert.

UTPP Director Rafael Mendívil Millán presided over the event, recognizing the talent and creativity of the participating students. “I congratulate you; you have shown that when one wants something it can be done. Today, with much vision and talent, you have recreated what could be a business in the area of gastronomy: elegance, service, care and menu quality,” he stressed.

Chef José Juan Rodríguez was the teacher responsible in coordinating the Gastronomic Event. Within the UTPP’s course study, Rodríguez also teaches topics of Culinary Methods and Techniques as well as Bakery.

Mendívil Millán further welcomed all the parents in attendance who had come to support and sample the work of their children.  “I want to say that for UTPP, ties with the community are a priority. Therefore, we are pleased to receive the parents at the University, who day in and day out do their best to support their children,” emphasized the UTPP Director.

Finally, Mendívil Millán stressed the main objective of the University is to provide quality education and therefore, he affirmed, they are working arduously via steps via with offices and the government.

Muestra Gastronómica: Creando Conceptos en la UTPP

Ante la presencia de padres, amigos, directivos y representantes de los medios de comunicación, los alumnos del segundo cuatrimestre de la carrera de Gastronomía de la Universidad Tecnológica de Puerto Peñasco demuestran habilidades y conocimientos aprendidos en el aula en una gran Muestra Gastronómica. Creando Conceptos, donde se pudo degustar un buffet de tres tiempos: barra fría y ensaladas, plato fuerte y postres, logrando el disfrute y reconocimiento de los asistentes.

Presidió este evento académico el Rector Rafael Mendívil Millán quien reconoció talento, creatividad de los alumnos participantes.
“A ustedes jóvenes los felicito, han demostrado que cuando se quiere se puede.  Hoy han recreado con mucha visión y talento lo que puede ser una empresa en el rubro de la Gastronomía: Elegancia, Servicio, Atención y calidad en el menú”, resaltó el titular de la UTPP.

El profesor responsable de la coordinar la Muestra Gastronómica fue el Chef José Juan Rodríguez, quien además está a cargo de las asignaturas de Métodos y Técnicas Culinarias y Panadería que establece el plan de estudios.

El Ing. Rafael Mendívil dio un mensaje de bienvenida también a los padres y madres de familia que se dieron cita para apoyar y degustar lo realizado por sus hijos.  “Quiero decirles que para la UTPP, la vinculación con la comunidad es una prioridad, por ello nos da gusto recibir en nuestra Universidad a ustedes padres  y madres de familia que cada día se esfuerzan por sacar adelante a sus hijos”, destacó el Rector de la UTPP.

Por último, el Rector Rafael Mendívil destacó que el objetivo principal de la Universidad es brindar una educación de calidad y para ello, afirmó, se trabaja fuertemente mediante la gestión ante instancias educativas y de Gobierno.
