Semana Santa! Rocky Point Weekend Rundown

giuseppis-sponsor-bannerThis Weekend’s Rundown sponsored by Giuseppi’s on Blvd. Fremont

It’s Semana Santa! This is definitely the busiest time around town, the beaches, and of course down in the malecón. Along with religious traditions celebrating Easter, Semana Santa and the following week “Semana de Pasqua” are filled with family, music, friends, and here in Sonora…banda! Schools are out for two weeks, though the busiest time is this weekend!

As we rundown this weekend, be sure to stay safe and enjoy the ambiance!

SEMANA SANTA!

viacrucis-memo2Holy Friday – April 18th  Viacrucis  Stations of the Cross  10 a.m.  This traditional event, which has taken place in the Old Port for nearly 32 years (with a few breaks in between) begins at the Malecón and will wind its way toward the stone backdrop of Whale Hill (near entrance to Old Port). More than 50 individuals traditionally take part in this dramatic retelling of the Stations of the Cross and crucifixion before Easter.

Music!

semana Santa en Puerto Peñasco 10Pick a spot and you’ll find music everywhere you go…especially if you’re down around the malecón.  Roads to the Old Port tend to be closed throughout this busy weekend, starting after about midday.
