Rotary Club collaborates to help those affected by Tropical Storm Lidia

By José Antonio Pérez, Shandra Keesecker-Rivero

Though the recent passing of tropical storm Lidia only brought bouts of wind and rain to Puerto Peñasco, its impact on municipalities in Baja California was much stronger. To assist those affected by the storm in Baja California Sur, particularly in areas of Los Cabos and La Paz, the local Rotary club has joined with Rotary Clubs across District 4100 to collect donations through Friday, Sept. 8th, with a “collection spot” set up at the main Fire Station on Blvd. Fremont.

Among items requested as donations are:

  • Bottled water
  • Clothing
  • Personal hygiene products (toothbrushes, toilet paper, diapers, soap, shampoo, etc.)
  • Non-perishable food items (canned or dry)

Those able to help are encouraged to drop donations off now through Friday at the Fire Department. Members from the Rotary club are “staffing” a collection spot from about 10 am – 6 pm, though donations can be left with the Fire Department around the clock.
