With enthusiasm to rescue age-old traditions in Puerto Peñasco, a group of individuals from the port led by Father Santiago Robles Andrade will be holding a “Send-off Mass” to wish local fishermen a successful season and safe return.
Following various decades, this religious ceremony will be taken up again on Wednesday, September 11th in the area of docks. There will also be a community fest with sale of folkart and food, plus various musical groups on hand to enliven the evening.
“The Mass will be at 5 p.m., and then the fest will take place right there. The goal is to render homage to the roots of our port,” clarified the priest.
The “Send-off Mass”, which will include prayer for safe travels for the fishermen, as well as the events thereafter have been organized in collaboration with the Office of Civic and Cultural Affairs, and with the support of Rubén Rodríguez Rico and Mireya Moreno.
Rescatando tradiciones – Misa de Envio – 11 de septiembre

En un afán de rescatar tradiciones de antaño de Puerto Peñasco, un grupo de personas originarias de este puerto lideradas por el padre Santiago Robles Andrade idearon realizar una “Misa de Envío” para desear a los pescadores un regreso favorable y una temporada fructífera.
Después de varias décadas este evento religioso se retomará el próximo 11 de septiembre en el área del Muelle donde también se organizará una verbena popular con vendimia de artesanías y antojitos asi como la presentación de grupos musicales para amenizar la tarde.
“La misa será a las cinco de la tarde, y después será la verbena ahí mismo y música , el fin es rendirle un homenaje a las raíces de nuestro puerto” aclaró el sacerdote.
La “Misa de Envío” en la que harán oración por el buen viaje de los pescadores , así como los eventos posteriores son organizados también en colaboración con la Dirección de Acción Cívica y Cultural y con el apoyo de Rubén Rodríguez Rico y Mireya Moreno.
