Red White & Green! Rocky Point Weekend Rundown!

Last weekend’s “unofficial” end to Summer over Labor Day drew a large number of visitors to the area, experienced by many we hear particularly at the Mexico/US border crossing going both to and fro. As weekends start picking up with activities toward the end of September and straight through Thanksgiving, be sure to share your travel tips with us so as to assist fellow travelers. You can post tips on our FB page Rocky Point 360   Note: Lukeville crossing is open daily from 6 a.m. – midnight Border Wait Times (heading North) – Check here (close to accurate)

Looking around town these days you may think, oh how festive! Yes, the city is dressed to the nines for the night of El Grito (Sept. 15) and of course Mexican Independence Day (Sept. 16). This year we’ll also have a change in the city’s administration from current Mayor “Profe” Gerardo Figueroa Zazueta to incoming Mayor Ernesto “Kiko” Munro Lopez. So, let’s get to it and run down the weekend!

Roads:

  • Overpass just north of town sends cars on a short roundabout detour on packed dirt paths. If heading toward Sandy Beach or Cholla Bay, stay on road headed toward Laguna del Mar and coastal highway
  • Blvd. Juarez is open through town – yep, all the way through to the Old Port. Some construction on Campeche toward Mirador (behind Benito Juarez statute) next to Banamex.
