The 1st Sandcastle Competition to benefit the José Dávalos Valdivia Casa Hogar promises an afternoon of family fun on Playa Hermosa, August 12th (starting at 5 p.m.) near the beach access point next to the Navy palapa.
The goal is to hold a family-friendly event by taking advantage of the beach while raising funds for Casa Hogar through a nominal registration fee of 500 pesos per team.
Santiago Ruiz, Board President of Casa Hogar, explained this will be the first time they’ll be holding a sandcastle contest, adding there will be an activity for team members (of any age) to search for a flag to place on the highest tower of their castle. These flags will be hidden somewhere along the beach before the competition.
Teams can be maximum of 7 people, and can bring their own tools to the competition. Once competition begins, around 5 p.m., there will be an hour and a half building time and no other tools can be brought in. Prizes to be given out to the top three spots, along with gifts from sponsors.
Registration spots will be set up periodically at Casa Hogar on Saturdays, located at the intersection of Blvd. Josefa Ortiz and Hidalgo. For more information, please contact Santiago Ruiz at: 638 384 6166
