RCPM Jam VII

Roger Clyne & the Peacemakers’ VII edition of January Jam in Rocky Point did not disappoint! Just over 400 folk at The Hut on Friday set an attendance record for the now familiar pre-Jam evening, leading up to the traditional fest over the bay at JJ’s on Saturday. The Jam crowd on Saturday spilled out onto the beach as around 1000 tequila toasting cerveza sipping folk took in a warm night of Peacemaker camaraderie and tunes.  Amidst the great cover renditions by RCPM on Friday night (many of which made their way into the Saturday jam), plus Jim Dalton & The Lawbreakers, Harley Husbands from Shurman, Chris Kantor’s energy, white painter coveralls, and Jason Boots belting out Beastie Boys, the only thing that seemed to be missing from the weekend – which included three 13 song sets on Saturday – was Dalton’s cowboy hat. Also, who knew JD’s Colorado country drawl would melt so well into English punk from The Clash?!  To round out the weekend, the 2nd Mexican Moonshine Classic couldn’t have asked for better weather as 72 golfers made their way around The Links course, stopping from time to time for Mexican Moonshine shots for charity. Salud!

With another Jam under his sombrero, Roger looks forward to June’s Circus Mexicus. In discussing upcoming Circus dates, Clyne mentioned there had been the temptation to aim for the full moon on the 13th, which by the way is a Friday the 13th, though all indications seem to point to a week just before. Stay tuned for dates, tickets when available, and line up at: www.circusmexicus.net
