Puerto Peñasco hosts Sonoran Energy Summit – Feb 2nd

Sonora Governor Alfonso Durazo Montaño welcomes more than 60 global diplomats, along with representatives from Mexico’s Ministry of Foreign Affairs, to take part in a summit today to present the Sonoran Sustainable Energy Plan (PSES).

The meeting, to be presided over by Marcelo Ebrard Casaubón, Secretary of Foreign Affairs in Mexico, was to begin on the morning of Feb. 2nd with the arrival of participating dignitaries.  The schedule includes a tour of the solar plant being built to the southeast of Puerto Peñasco near the airport, followed by a meeting to present the Sonoran Sustainable Energy Plan.

Governor Durazo detailed today’s event will provide a forum to detail components of the Sonoran plan, which will have both national and international impact, encompassing aspects of lithium, solar energy, liquefaction of natural gas, and manufacturing of micro-conductors while boosting the electro-mobility industry.

This summit precedes the visit of Mexican President Andres Manuel Lopez Obrador to the area mid-february to oversee progress on the solar plant, work which began last year.
