Last Tuesday, Puerto Peñasco Mayor Ernesto “Kiko” Munro, along with local DIF President Linda Pivac de Munro, and Chamber of Commerce Secretary Angel de la Puerta, waved flags signaling the departure of 1 ton in humanitarian assistance to the region surrounding Guaymas as it recovers from the impact of tropical storm Marty, which recently devastated the area.
The donated aid was made possible through collections from businesses, families, and the local DIF, consisting of bottled water, rice, beans, medicine, baby food, diapers, canned food, and blankets.
Week-long collection sites had been set up earlier at the offices of the local Chamber of Commerce (CANACO), Red Cross, as well as the DIF.
