Peñasco mayor takes part in binational security meeting in Lukeville

This past week, Puerto Peñasco Mayor Ernesto “Kiko” Munro took part in a binational meeting held at the US/Mexico border crossing in Lukeville, AZ. The meeting, which takes place on a monthly basis, on this occasion included participation from the cities of Puerto Peñasco, Caborca, and Sonoyta from Mexico, along with representatives from Ajo, Yuma, and Lukeville from the U.S. side. The main goal of these meetings is to coordinate and present preventative guidelines with respect to security on both sides of the border.

Accompanying Munro from Puerto Peñasco were Director of Municipal Public Safety, Francisco Ávila Toscano, and the Administrative Director of Public Safety, Aidé Hernández Joya.

Munro stressed the importance of binational coordination in addressing topics that will strengthen safety throughout the region, and for the city of Puerto Peñasco, to ensure peace for residents and tourists alike.
