OOMAPAS providing maintenance work on wells

Puerto Peñasco, Sonora. February 18, 2016.   In order to provide the community of Puerto Peñasco with quality services, the local water company (OOMAPAS) is currently doing maintenance work on repumping equipment along the Sonoyta-Puerto Peñasco aquifer, reports OOMAPAS Administrative Director Jorge Iván Pivac Carrillo.

Pivac Carillo explained the objective is to keep repumping equipment in optimum condition, as this supplies water to the community. The current work may cause some issues such as lower water pressure or service outages though, per the Mayor’s instruction, the goal is to affect neighborhoods as little as possible.

In addition to 7 wells currently in operation, another 2 were expected to begin working soon. Furthermore, remarked Pivac Carrillo, thanks to actions of Mayor Kiko Munro, approval of the National Water Commission (CONAGUA) has been given to refurbish an additional 5 wells, and drilling to replace another two.

The OOMAPAS Administrative Director asked the community for patience and understanding for any inconveniences this may cause, though this will provide greater benefits once the warmer season begins.
