Oktoberfest Challenge

Oktoberfest Challenge Oct 15-16, 2011
Peninsula de Cortes Golf Course
Mayan Palace, Puerto Peñasco.

With a field of 110 players, the Oktoberfest Challenge was another enormously succesful Golf tournament hosted by the Mayan Palace and the Arizona Golf Association.

The weather was outstanding both days, with warm sun and blue skies. This year’s event included a charitable cause for the school children of Nueva Creación with all the players donating school supplies, the basic requirements for a child´s education. The school principal came to the Golf course on Saturday to recieve all the gifts along with $3,300 pesos collected from the very exciting chipping constest for charity.

The winner of the chipping contest went on to participate in the putting constest for $10,000 usd, while not making the putt, our golfing friend, Howard from Elephant Rock GC in Williams AZ walked away with a brand new Odessey Putter.

The food served up on both days of play was welcomed by hungry players who had their thirst quenched by free beer and open bar after play. Live music was also enjoyed by all on the lovely deck overlooking the golf course. Finally, on the last day, prizes galore were given out to the players, everything from 42” flat screen TV´s, Blurays, digital cameras, to golf shirts, hats, balls and clubs. A lot of fun was had by all and we look forward to hosting everyone again for the Mayan March Challenge to be held March 24 and 25, 2012. Puerto Peñasco, the Mayan Palace and the Golf course would like to thank all the players, sponsors and staff for a job well done, see you soon!
