OBSC’s 30th Annual BBQ & Bash

Framed images of the Old Boys Social Club’s three decades of their annual BBQ & Bash adorn beams of the Community Center in Cholla Bay. Over those three decades, along with fiesta and BBQ, the OBSC has continually raised an average of $500 US yearly for the local Lion’s Club. In recent years, explains OBSC President Jerry Caballero, they’ve expanded the fundraiser to include a similar amount for the local DIF (Family & Services organization – Office on Integral Family Development).

Under a spectacular late April sky, the OBSC was back at it again this past Saturday, with BBQ, fantastic silent auction items (since I haven’t been contacted yet I guess my bids were beat out), fundraising games, music, dancing, and …oh yes, trash can margaritas.  It’s a good time to be had by all!

Joining the OBSC this year for the BBQ & Bash were members from the local Lion’s Club, along with representatives from various programs of the local DIF organization including from Amores de Peñasco ChildrOBSC-pokerrun-933x1200 OBSC's 30th Annual BBQ & Bashen’s Home, Basic Rehabilitation Unit (UBR), and the administrative offices.  Música by Hijos de Mauricio kept a good deal of folks up on their feet…though perhaps the trash can margs helped a little.

Following the OBSC’s 30th Annual Bash, next up on the calendar is the off-road Poker Run set for May 21st and keep an eye out for their Summer Steak Fry, among other events throughout the year!
