Nayo Jones to headline Jazz Festival in Rocky Point

In November 2011, the United Nations Educational, Scientific, and Cultural Organization (UNESCO) designated April 30th as International Jazz Day.  2016 marks the 5th Annual International Jazz Day, with celebrations set to take place across the globe (jazzday.com), including along the shores of the Sea of Cortez. On April 22nd and 23rd, jazz will make its mark on Puerto Peñasco once again with the stellar performances of Nayo Jones, along with music educator and jazz promoter Doc Jones of the International Jazz Day AZ Foundation, and Carlos Rivas and his Mex-Sal orchestra, offering the perfect fusion of Latin Jazz with touches of salsa.

Jazz is no stranger to Puerto Peñasco, as at one time festivals featuring local and visiting artists graced stages from The Lighthouse to Peñasco del Sol, and beyond. Our community is rich with jazz talent and history (just ask Armando “Kennedy” Noriega), along with Latin rhythms, which will certainly enhance this celebration to round out what the U.S. Smithsonian Institute has deemed “Jazz Appreciation Month” (JAM).

Save the Date!  April 22nd & 23rd  – More info coming soon!
