Local Rotary Club donates ambulance to Red Cross

The Puerto Peñasco Mar de Cortés Rotary Club has been quite active in town since the reinstatement of Rotary Club International here last summer. In addition to a large fundraising event held in late September to launch the Club’s presence in Puerto Peñasco, the Puerto Peñasco Mar de Cortés Rotary Club has hosted several health clinics and is currently busy in helping to prepare for the District Conference of Utah Rotarian Clubs to be held in Puerto Peñasco mid-June. Accompanied by City Secretary Oscar Villvicencio Lübbert, along with Rotary Club members and staff from the Red Cross, Julio César Valenzuela, Secretary of the Puerto Peñasco Mar de Cortés Rotary Club, explained how the presentation of the ambulance was made possible after the Club had received a number of in-kind donations for the local Red Cross. As the material itself did not meet current needs of the institution, some of the items were exchanged with the San José Clinic for an ambulance in need of repair, which through assistance of the Rotary club was repaired and on Wed., Feb. 25th presented to the Red Cross.

The Puerto Peñasco Mar de Cortés Rotary Club meets every Wednesday at 8 a.m. in the new Don Julio location on the malecón.
