Local business leaders as part of CA trip with Mayor Munro

During the last week of October, Puerto Peñasco Mayor Kiko Munro led an important three day business and promotional trip to parts of southern California, with the support of Oxnard Mexican Consul Roberto Rodríguez.

The Puerto Peñasco contingent, which also included Municipal Tourism Director Luis Altamirano along with Steve Schwab of Sea Side Reservations and Gustavo Grown of Sandy Beach, visited with Executive Regional Director of the US-Mexico Chamber of Commerce, Marlen Marroquín, while in Los Angeles, as well as Mexican Secretary of Tourism representative Jorge Gamboa Patrón.

The business/promotional mission also met with the Mexican Consul in San Bernardino,  Salomón Rosas, as well as Ventura County Airport Director Jorge Rubio in Oxnard, CA, and members from the real estate community in Santa Barbara.  In wrapping up the visit, the mayor met with Port Hueneme Mayor, Jonathan Sharkey, to exchange experiences concerning business opportunities in both cities.  Peñasco’s Mayor also met with Will Berg of the Hueneme Port, to discuss areas of possibility in developing the port as a loading dock for Puerto Peñasco.

The three day visit to California  wrapped up with Ventura Yacht Club Commodore Brian McKenna, who expressed his interest in visiting Puerto Peñasco while continuing to promote activities such as the regattas, and development of marinas.

Mayor Munro expressed his gratitude to Roberto Rodríguez, Mexican Consul in Oxnard, CA, for his invaluable promotion of the city and drive to pursue a possible sister city relationship with the city of Santa Barbara.
