Did anyone catch the full moon last night? Spectacular! Along with a majestic moon, early week winds have died down and things are heating up, especially for local golf courses! The Peninsula course at Mayan Palace will be welcoming the 4th edition of the Uniting Nations Cup with amateur golfers from Mexico and the U.S. vying for a team championship, while we hear some folks from Cholla are holding a fun tournament of sorts at The Links, and in Cholla Bay the low tides once again reveal the sea bed “greens” for JJ’s One Club Open. Out at Laguna del Mar, they also offer an immaculate 9-hole course. FORE! Plus, next week, The Links at Las Palomas will be celebrating its 8th Anniversary with its popular annual golf tournament.

Arizona Desert Racing is back at it again, with registration on Friday near the Fire Department. On Saturday morning, bikes take off on the course beginning at 6:15 a.m. near the Fire Department. Cars stage behind The Sonoran Sea and The Sonoran Spa and at 8:40 a.m. will “parade” to the start at the Fire Department. Cars start at 9:30 a.m.
May 17 – JJ’s One Club Open – Tee-off beginning at 7 a.m. This ain’t Augusta, folks. It’s about using one club to make your way around the Cholla Bay sea-bed at low tide while lobbing golf balls into hula-hoop “holes”. Tip: Don’t wear white….or do… Good luck! $10 US proceeds go to the year round efforts of The Santa Claus Club.
