Fundraiser Ball for Dialysis Center March 11

The civil association behind efforts to finally open Puerto Peñasco’s first Dialysis Center will be holding a fundraising concert/ball on March 11th, 9 pm – 2 am at the Quinta Ventura event hall, with entertainment by Grupo Proyección of Caborca, Sonora.  Tickets are 200 pesos and can be purchased from Chayo Eufracio 638 105 3473, or at the Dialysis Center itself located behind the General Hospital in Las Brisas.  Inquiries can also be made at the offices of FMI Rentals on Blvd. Fremont.

The event hopes to raise funds for the purchase of stabilization equipment for the center, which is soon to open its doors in Puerto Peñasco, detailed association board President Rafael Félix.   Enrique Rodriguez, Vice president of the Comprehensive Community Assistance Project of the dialysis center, noted the center has trained staff and is set to open shortly.  Goals are to now raise funds for purchase of the stabilization equipment, as well as instruments necessary to address emergencies, additional restrooms for family members, and gravel for the neighboring lot to prevent dust.

The board members further detailed though the center has met most of the requirements of the Secretary of Health to run the dialysis center, additional needs include instruments to measure glucose and in stabilizing patients.

Acknowledging this has been a very long process, Rodríguez detailed as more needs arise they must seek ways to continue to raise funds.

“We are still gathering supplies, medication, and materials that are strictly necessary. Following the staff training course, more details continue to arise. We recently built a space between the waiting room and clinic, which we had not contemplated earlier, and we are also building an area to store cleaning supplies,” he explained.  He added once the clinic is certified to begin operations, they will also seek possibilities to provide care at accessible prices to patients from the U.S., through an insurance company, thereby broadening opportunities for those who vacation here to receive services.
