Expo Oaxaca at Shrimp Plaza April 5-23

Traditional ice cream, Mexican treats, folk-art, typical colorful clothing from Oaxaca, and music, among many other articles are on display at the Expo Oaxaca set up at Shrimp Plaza. The group “Hermanos Juárez de Oaxaca” have set up dozens of stands across the plaza, which will remain from April 5th – 23rd.

“The idea is to promote the products and folkart from Oaxaca, taking advantage of the vacation period in Puerto Peñasco,” explained Roberto Juárez Martínez, leader of the vendors.

One of the most popular products, he remarked, is the traditional ice cream/ice with special flavors including rose and tequila, along with regional candies.  There’s also traditional mole and even chapulines (grasshoppers), embroidered clothing, colorful bags, natural makeup, incense, and tarot cards.
