It has been a tremendous week for Puerto Peñasco’s boxing star Juan Francisco “El Gallo” Estrada. Over the weekend, a new boxing training gym in the Ferrocarrilera neighborhood of the city was dedicated by the Mayor and his wife, named in honor of El Gallo; plus, Thursday marks the weigh-in process for El Gallo’s upcoming bout on Friday night at the Francisco Leon stadium (baseball stadium). “El Gallo”, as some may recall, was the winner of Campeona Azteca III – 3rd Round Reality show in 2011.
El Gallo, together with Puerto Peñasco Mayor Alejandro Zepeda Munro and his wife Marcela Albelaiz and Sports Representative Aymee Soe Ayala Machain, performed the traditional ribbon cutting ceremony at the newly inaugurated “El Gallo Estrada” training gym. In a press release issued on Sunday, Aug. 19th, Gallo expressed, “I want to tell all the youth and children that they can become whatever they desire. I hope this gym is used by all, this is a wonderful gift for us.”
On Thursday, Aug. 23rd, the official weigh-in for El Gallo’s upcoming fight will take place at noon at Chango’s. That evening, at 7 p.m., the spot will also hold a press conference where autographed t-shirts will be given out. Plus, as one of the event sponsors Penascohoy.com explains, there will be an opportunity to get a picture with the Peñasco champion.
Boxing on Friday at Francisco Leon Garcia stadium begins at 8:30 p.m. Tickets are: 100 pesos for stands, 150 pesos for seats, and 200 for ringside. Tickets available at Aqui es con Flavio, Tecate distributors (expendios) and the accounting office of Mario Ochoa. Good luck Gallo!!
