El Gallito ready for Saturday’s bout!

Juan Francisco “Gallo” Estrada is more than ready for his first fight in Puerto Peñasco against Filipino Raymond Tabugon, after going from flyweight to super flyweight.

After a year of absence, as well as having given up his WBO/WBA flyweight titles so he could move up in categories, “El Gallo” Estrada will measure his strength against Raymond Tabugon in what will be Gallo’s debut in the super flyweight category. He himself makes assurances he is prepared after sufficient training.

The Peñasco boxer remarked he is really excited about the opportunity of fighting once again on his home-turf, and more so now that he’s moved to another weight.

“Well, I am anxious and content to return after a year and now in the super flyweight category,” he stated.

Another point that also affected Gallo over the past months was a hand injury, which he says he recovered from before beginning training.

El Gallito Estrada has shared he’s working on getting ready to confront the Nicaraguan boxer Roman “Chocolatito” González, also at super flyweight, which is a highly anticipated bout in the world of boxing.

Weigh-in for this weekend’s bouts will be Friday, 11 a.m. in the Old Port for anyone wanting to come out.

On Saturday, the boxing gets underway at the “Francisco León García” baseball stadium, with gates opening at 4 p.m.  The night will include a series of fights.  Announcer Jimmy “It’s Showtime” Lennon Jr. will be part of the action on Saturday, alongside the crew from Box Azteca, including commentary from Julio César Chávez.

Tickets available at Limani Coffee Shop (east side of Shrimp Plaza), online at www.globalticket.com.mx  and general admission tickets can also be found at the VIP Market (former Circle K) on Blvd. Juarez.
