Earthquake impact ruled out in Puerto Peñasco

Recent quakes that shook the southern part of Mexico were far removed from Sonora and Puerto Peñasco.  Francisco Javier Carrillo, Director of the Municipal Civil Protection Unit, reported there are no alerts in this area regarding aftershocks, nor due to weather concerns such as rain. Still, he explained, the office remains in constant communication with the State Civil Protection Unit. The only restrictions in the area have been for small boats, due to wind and high tides.

The 8.2 earthquake off the coasts between Chiapas and Oaxaca on the evening of September 7th impacted nearly 50  million residents in Mexico, has led to over 60 deaths, and caused damage in Chiapas, Oaxaca, Tabasco, and Mexico City. As a precaution, alerts were issued in eleven states across Mexico.
