Cannonball jellyfish yields surpass 40 thousand tons

There are high spirits and optimism this fishing season after “cannonball” jelly fish yields surpass expectations. The Regional Federation of Fishermen Cooperatives announced there has been a 33% increase in fishing production when compared to the 30,000 tons of cannonball jelly fish from last year.

Carlos Tirado, representative for the Fishermen Cooperatives, explained this type of fishing industry, specifically “cannonball Jellyfish”, has a positive impact on society as it provides 8 thousand direct and indirect jobs on land and sea, with the use of 541 authorized fishing permits.
