az-mex-commision AZ-Mex Commission is here!You may have noticed fresh paint on many of the main roads across Puerto Peñasco, or perhaps convoys of state police roaming around the city. These are clear signs the highly anticipated Arizona-Mexico Commission Plenary meeting is here, with meetings and roundtables to take part in different venues across Puerto Peñasco on Thursday, Feb. 9th and Friday, the 10th.  Committee meetings during the Thursday session will address areas of art and culture, education, energy, health services, real estate, security, sports, and tourism. Friday’s session will include meetings on agribusiness, economic development, emergency management, the environment, financial/business & legal services, transportation/infrastructure & ports, as well as water issues.  On the schedule for the Friday afternoon plenary session is time for signing of agreements as well as for remarks from Sonora Governor Guillermo Padrés Elías, and his Arizona counterpart Governor Jan Brewer.

As part of Governor Padrés Elías’ time in Puerto Peñasco, he is also scheduled to be part of the laying of the first stone on the city’s new Convention Center, which will be built along the former popular Cholla Bay road and behind the Las Palomas golf course. It should be an exciting weekend all around for Rocky Point!!
